POSITION SUMMARY
As the principal management leader of the Conrad Mansion Museum (Mansion), the Executive Director (ED) is responsible for overseeing the administration, activities, and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fund raising, donor development, marketing, and community outreach. The ED reports directly to the Mansion’s Board of Directors (Board).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES)

Board
Provide leadership to support and guide the Mansion’s mission as defined by the Board
Maintain highest Museum standards for exhibition and preservation of the Mansion property and permanent collection
Promote and oversee planning of all activities of the Mansion, in collaboration with the Board and its working committees
Work closely with the Board President and ensure that (s)he is regularly informed of all aspects of the Mansion’s operations

Staff / Volunteer Supervision and Support
Supervise and have direct responsibility for Mansion record-keeping and correspondence
Promote and facilitate open communication, cooperation and teamwork among staff and volunteers
Recruit staff and volunteers; assign responsibilities; train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteer performance
Work closely with and provide direction for the Executive Assistant
Report personnel issues to the Board President

Program / Events Management
Provide creative leadership to develop and implement mission-based programming, events and activities that attract and educate visitors and members
Act as receiving agent and director for all Mansion exhibits and artifacts

Fund raising / Donor Development
Develop and implement quality fund raising campaigns and events that support the operations of the Mansion and align with its mission
Research grant opportunities and seek grant funding to support Mansion operations
Grow and cultivate the Mansion’s membership and donor base; maintain accurate data; engage and recognize members and donors
Develop special campaigns to increase the Mansion’s endowment and attract planned gifts through donor education and outreach

Community Relationships and Public Relations 
Serve as the Mansion’s chief ambassador to increase public awareness and goodwill
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other nonprofit organizations, local businesses, community members, and donors
Coordinate/oversee media releases, quarterly newsletter, social media postings and other public relations initiatives

Financial Management 
Work with Board to develop an annual budget, and properly maintain the approved plan
In all financial matters, act in accordance with Mansion policies and procedures
Oversee proper maintenance of all financial records associated with income and expense; manage grants
Submit regular financial statements to the Board in collaboration with Board Treasurer

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Transparent and high integrity leadership
Three or more years nonprofit management experience
Budget management skills - preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
Strong organizational skills - planning, delegating, and task facilitation
Ability to communicate the Mansion’s vision to staff, board, volunteers and donors
Knowledge of fund raising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
Strong written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff and volunteers

WORKING CONDITIONS 
Full-time, salaried, exempt employee
Some evening and weekend hours
Professional appearance required at all times
Occasional small lifting and frequent use of stairs
ED works primarily indoors, but may occasionally be required to participate in activities outdoors on the Mansion grounds or at fund raising events, in all types of weather
